On 1st July 2015, Molinare acquired audio facility Hackenbacker from e-Post Media Limited, the owners of HALO Post Production. The coming together under a group umbrella will strengthen capacity and the services offered to clients. Molinare has provided picture and sound on recent projects including NBC’s A.D. Beyond The Bible, Man Up starring Simon Pegg, and with ITV’s Beowulf in the pipeline. Hackenbacker are recognised as one of the industry’s leading audio specialists, with a portfolio including Downton Abbey, Thunderbirds Are Go, and The Double.

Hackenbacker’s owner-founder, Nigel Heath, will remain a Director of Hackenbacker and will join the group management team alongside Julie Parmenter and Steve Milne of Molinare, and private equity firms Next Wave Partners and Saphir Capital. The acquisition will have no impact on the day-to-day operation of either facility or sound department.

ITV’s Drama Whitechapel returns To Hackenbacker


Award-winning facility Hackenbacker has completed the entire audio post production for the fourth series of ITV’s hit TV drama Whitechapel.

Created by Ben Court and Caroline Ip, Whitechapel follows a group of police detectives, led by Detective Inspector Joseph Chandler, as they investigate homicides which seem to be copycat killing based on historical crimes. The series is produced by NBC Universal’s Carnival Films and stars Rupert Penry Jones as Detective Inspector Joseph Chandler, Phil Davis as Detective Sergeant Ray Miles and Steve Pemberton as Edward Buchan.

Multi-Award winning facility Hackenbacker has completed the entire audio post production for Murder on the Home Front, a new two-part drama series produced by Carnival Films for ITV and directed by Geoffrey Sax.

Starring Patrick Kennedy (Boardwalk Empire, Parade’s End), Tamzin Merchant (Jane Eyre, The Tudors), James Fleet (Four Weddings and a Funeral, The Vicar of Dibley) and Emerald Fennell (Any Human Heart, Anna Karenina), Murder on the Home Front is set during the Blitz of 1940 and recounts details of crime in London during the Second World War.

Director Michael Samuels has once again chosen Hackenbacker’s award-winning audio post production team to handle the entire audio post for his new four-part drama series The Fear, which will be screened on terrestrial TV in December.

Hackenbacker and Michael Samuels also joined forces during the making of Any Human Heart, a Carnival Films/Masterpiece mini-series that was nominated for a 2011 Emmy Award in the Outstanding Sound Editing for a Mini-series, Movie or Special category.

Starring Martin Clunes, Hermione Norris and Paul McGann, A Mother’s Son is set around the murder of a teenage schoolgirl in Suffolk and deals with various members of the community who are connected to it. At the heart of the plot lie an ordinary mother’s suspicions that her son may be capable of murder.

Case Sensitive

Award-wining facility Hackenbacker has completed the audio post production for the second series of Case Sensitive, the gripping crime thriller based on Sophie Hannah’s highly acclaimed psychological suspense novels. 

Following the success of the first series, which averaged 6 million viewers per episode, Hat Trick Productions has produced two new 60 minute episodes that will be screened on ITV1 on July 12th and 13th, 2012.
